The active ingredient, salicylic acid, is a multifunctional ingredient that addresses many of the systemic causes of blemishes as well as anti-inflammatory effect. 2% is the highest concentration without provoking irritation. So this product should have anti-acne properties.

However this product contains considerate amount of other irritants, including alcohol, sodium hydroxide, and detergent-based cleansing agents. Even oily skin should approach with caution.

1st ingredient		is water.
2nd ingredient		PEG-80 sorbitan laurate is a mild surfactant. Surfactants emulsify oils and fats and suspend soil, allowing them to be washed away, like a detergent.
3rd ingredient		sodium myreth sulfate is a surfactant, see above. It is a cheap and very effective foaming agent.
4th ingredient		cocamidopropyl betaine is a medium strength surfactant which usually will not irritate skin.
