I am indeed very impressed with this product. It is an excellent moisturizer in every sense: moisturizing, age-defying, calming for inflamed skin.
The soothing property of this product stood out the most. The named chamomile extract is used in general skin care, especially where inflammation may be present, including acne, irritation and other forms of rashes and skin minor problems. Many other ingredients are also botanical-derived and have natural anti-inflammatory effect. For instance comfrey root extract is rich in allantoin, which is known to heal, sooth, anti-irritant, and stimulate healthy tissue formation. Calendula officinalis flower extract is derived from the plant pot marigold. It may have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, but it has not been fully proved. Borage seed oil contains gamma linolenic acid. Gamma linolenic acid (GLA) is fatty acid used in cosmetics as an emollient, antioxidant, and cell regulator. GLA is considered to promote healthy skin growth and is an anti-inflammatory agent.
The moisturizer is also nod-worthy for its rich moisturizing content. Carthamus tinctorius (Safflower) seed oil is natural nonfragrant emollient. In addion there are jojoba oil, avocado oil and shea butter, to name a few.
The essential oil of lavender is primarily a fragrance ingredient. It may have antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-viral, anti-toxic and anti-inflammatory properties but it has not been translated into skin benefits. The fragrant component can be a skin irritant.
Another potential irritant is the neroli (orange) oil, which may cause photosensitive reaction. Avoide sun exposure and wear sufficient sun protection using this product. Overall I consider this a safe and well-formulated moisturizer.
