The claimed ingredient in this product is from a patented ingredient called teprenone. Topical use of teprenone in a cosmetic or dermopharmaceutical composition as an active preventing and/or limiting the skin cells senescence (getting old) and/or protecting the general state of the skin. It is indeed a high-tech and highly effective anti-aging treatment. Also the ingredient narcissus tazetta bulb extract is potent antioxidant and contributes to anti-aging as well.
However, I am disappointed in the rest of the formula. Appeared early is the ingredient propylene glycol (PG). PG is derived from petroleum and used in cosmetics as solvents, surfactants, and wetting agents. It is used to enhance ingredient penetration and as a humidifying agent. It is easily absorbed through skin and is a potent skin irritant. PG could provoke skin irritation and sensitization at concentration as low as 2%. In fact U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a warning to avoid skin contact to prevent brain, liver, and kidney abnormalities.
Other that PG there is another concerning ingredient triethanolamine. Triethanolamine is used in cosmetics as a pH balancer. Like all amines, it has the potential for creating nitrosamines. Nitrosamines are readily absorbed through skin and they have been proved to be strong carcinogen. Whether or not the concentrations used in cosmetics should be of concern is still a matter of debate. Better avoid if possible.
The product contains a great deal of silicone that smooths skin instantly but only temporarily. Overdose of silicone could cause pore cloggin.
Too much irritating fragrance too.
