This product contains 2% of salicylic acid (BHA). it is a multifunctional ingredient that addresses many of the systemic causes of blemishes. BHA is an anti-irritant and an anti-inflammatory and has antimicrobial properties. BHA has the ability to penetrate into the pore and thus not only exfoliates the surface cells but also inside the pore, which makes it effective for reducing blemishes, including blackheads and whiteheads. The 2% is the highest concentration without inducing skin irritation.

But grapefruit oil are irritating to skin. Topical application has been reported to cause contact dermatitis or a phototoxic reaction when skin is exposed to sunlight.
