The active ingredient salicylic acid (BHA) addresses many systemic causes of acnes. It functions as an effective exfoliant and an anti-irritant. Another notable aspect of salicylic acid for treating breakouts is that it has antimicrobial properties. At 2% concentration BHA is gentle and has the ability to penetrate into the pore and exfoliate inside the pore in addition to the skin surface, which makes it effective for reducing blemishes, including blackheads and whiteheads.

On the down side the product contains sodium lauryl sulfate which is detergent component for its strong cleansing and foaming effect. But when it is applied to skin directly it could be extremely drying and cause skin sentisization.
