The second abundant ingredient is SD alcohol 40-B. It is denatured alcohol used as a solvent. It can be extremely drying and irritating to skin. And it generates free radical damage. The fact that there is so much of it in this product even oily skin may not be able to tolerate it.
The glycolic acid content is proven anti-aging ingredient. Glycolic acid exfoliates the surface skin by breaking up cell-connecting materials. As a result fresh and smoother skin is revealed. It is widely used to treat aged skin by normalizing thickened skin and increasing skin water content. But the exfoliating properties may also irritate skin. Overdose may make users more sensitive to UV radiation. So it’s better to just use this product at night or wear sunscreen in daytime.
The ingredient DMAE has only reported to prevent aging based on a small study by Dr.Perricone himself, the manufacturer of the brand. So the claims are not solidly supported.
On the bright side there are indeed some antioxidants and soothing ingredients in it as well.
