The active ingredient benzoyl peroxide has been extensively studied and considered the most effective non-prescription antibacterial treatment for blemishes and acnes. Benzoyl peroxide penetrates into the follicle where the acne-causing bacteria reside and eliminate them. It's considered as low risk of irritation.

However, the fourth abundant ingredient is propylene glycol which has been found to provoke skin irritation and sensitization at concentration as low as 2%. Given this is the fourth ingredient in this product, the concentration very likely exceeds 2%. Therefore very likely to cause irritation and sentisizaiton. Some other ingredients also poses serious concerns.
