This product has "retinol" in its name. One would think retinol should be one of its main components. But in fact retinol is quite far down the ingredient list. Overall there are many beneficial ingredients in this product. The ingredient arginine HCL is a special form of arginine (amino acid) that's been shown to cause significant increase in blood flow and nutrient delivery. Another amino acid ingredient is hydroxyproline. It is a fundamental component of collagen and other structural proteins. Whether or not topical use can reduce wrinkles has not been fully proved. But it does have proven water-binding properties.
In terms of eye-specific effect, the ingredient glucosyl hesperidin has been scientifically shown to improve circulation when applied to the skin, thus helping to overcome the negative physical effects caused by stress, tiredness and cold. By stimulating surface circulation, glucosyl hesperidin can improve skin tone and colour, helping to combat dark circle, dull complexion, and puffiness.
The ingredient ginger extract has been long used in medicine. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic activity when eaten. It is believed to act as antioxidant topically. However it can be a potent skin irritant.
However, this product contains denatured alcohol that can be extremely drying and irritating to skin and generate free radical damage. Also the product contains potassium hydroxide which is a strong chemical that could cause skin burn and irritation. Even though at miniscule amount users still need to be cautious.
