Overall I consider this a good product, both for quality and price.

This moisturizer is enriched with carrot oil and carrot seed oil. As close as they sound, these two ingredients are actually different. Carrot oil is mainly used as moisturizing factor. Carrot seed oil contains high concentrations of carotene and vitamin A so it is known for its antioxidant properties. When eaten it has been shown to detoxify liver and digestive system. In cosmetics carrot seed oil benefits skin with its potent antioxidant properties and protects the skin from damaging UV rays. It also stimulates skin cell growth and thus prevents signs of aging such as wrinkles, lines and age spots.

In addition there are other effective moisturizing ingredients. For example, hyaluronic acid is a component of skin tissue that is used in skin-care products as a good water-binding agent. Another ingredient niacinamide is also called vitamin B3, niacin, and nicotinic acid. Topical use has been shown to increase ceramide and free fatty acid levels in skin, prevent skin from losing water content, and stimulate microcirculation in the dermis. It also helps skin discolorations.

Only one ingredient makes me worried, propylene glycol (PG). PG is derived from petroleum and used in cosmetics as solvents mostly. It is the fifth abundant ingredient in this product. The problem with PG is that it is easily absorbed through skin and is a potent skin irritant. PG could provoke skin irritation and sensitization at concentration as low as 2%. In fact U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a warning to avoid PG skin contact to prevent brain, liver, and kidney abnormalities.

The key word with ingredients such as PG is "accumulation". When you use product containing these ingredients for 1 week or even 1 month, you may very likely don't feel any reverse reactions. But still the ingredients are penetrating through skin and into the bloodstream and accumulating. The trace amount of these chemicals may not be of significant concern, but as you use these products often and long enough, the accumulated and concentrated hazardous ingredients will have increased chance to contribute to disease trigger.
