This cream is rich in anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial ingredients, both of which will contribute to lessen acnes. These ingredients also regulate sebaceous and oil secretion that in long term will reduce the frequency and eliminate acnes. But like all anti-acne treatments, these ingredients are harsher than usual and may cause serious irrition. Non-oily skin should not use this.

  • Arctium lappa root extract is also known as burdock root extract. It may have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
  • Sage oil is essential oil with a strong and unique smell. It can be a potent antioxidant and disinfective agent.
  • Yallow extract has anti-inflammatory properties. It also possesses antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.
  • St. John's wort has been used as diet supplement to treat depression and control appetite. It also has potent antioxidant properties which may be beneficial for skin. However it also contains photosensitive components that will cause damage to skin once exposed to sunlight.
  • Horsetail extract is plant extract that has a high tannin, alkaloid, and nicotine content, which can have skin-constricting properties and be irritating to skin.

One particulary harmful ingredient is propylene glycol (PG). PG is derived from petroleum and used in cosmetics as solvents, surfactants, and wetting agents. It is used to enhance ingredient penetration and as a humidifying agent. It is easily absorbed through skin and is a potent skin irritant. PG could provoke skin irritation and sensitization at concentration as low as 2%. In fact U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a warning to avoid skin contact to prevent brain, liver, and kidney abnormalities.
