This moisturizer is formulated for dry and aging skin with high-tech ingredients. The moisturizing ingredients are rich and may cause breakouts. Oily skin should avoid this product.
The main anti-aging ingredients is palmitoyl oligopeptides (Matrixyl). Matrixyl is a new amino-peptide. It stimulates collagen, elastin and glucosaminoglycans synthesis. So they should help reduce wrinkles. In the same category there are ceramides. Ceramides are major structural constituents of skin barrier and therefore important for skin water-retention. Lecithin is phospholipid found in egg yolks and the membranes of plant and animal cells. It is widely used in cosmetics as an emollient and water-binding agent.
There are also potent antioxidants to prevent future aging. For example, tomato extract contains lycopene, which is a significant antioxidant when eaten. But whether or not the benefits translate into skin use is not known. Saccharomyces cerevisiae extract is used in cosmetics since it can act in oxidative stress and improve skin conditions.
A rather interesting and novel ingredient is euglena extract. Euglena extract is used to activate the cellular metabolism and in particular to protect and/or improve the state of the skin and to reduce the signs of ageing in particular and/or cutaneous fatigue.
One more anti-aging mechanism employed here is exfoliation. Lactic acid is alpha hydroxy acid that is synthetic or extracted from milk. It exfoliates surface cells by breaking up the connective materials to reveal newer skin.
